History:
In the year 1946, a bunch of young guys attended the
function of 'Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti' organised
by Agarwal Sabha, Lucknow. At that function they
felt the need of such function to be organised
at 'Chowk' the ancient area of the city, where
all the Agarwals of the area can attend the
function.
In the year 1947, which was also the year of Indian
Independence, on the occasion of Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti few of them
Sri Laxmi Narain
Ji, Sri Ram Lakhan Ji, Sri Vishwa Nath
Ji & Sri Pratap Narain Ji along with their
friends laid the foundation of "Agarwal
Suhrad Samaj" in the small room of Lala Janki
Das Puran Chand Thakur Dwara at Bagh Maha Narain,
Chowk, Lucknow, with the objective to maintain the unity, love &
cooperation in the Agarwal community.
In 1972 the then members of the society decided to
handover the responsibility of the society to
the young generation and become the Patrons of
the society. This was the Silver Jubilee year of
the foundation of the society. This year the
society got registered under the U.P. Firms &
Societies Act and in 1975 get affiliated with
the Akhil Bhartiya Agrawal Sammelan, New Delhi.
As per the tradition, in 1997 on the occasion of
the Golden Jubilee Year of its foundation, again
the society has extended its working by making
members to the new generation and providing the
proper guidance & necessary help for the welfare
of the society.
With the blessings of Maharaja Agrasen &
Goddess
Laxmi, the society has celebrated the 60th year
of its foundation in 2007 and the programs
started from a small room are now being
organised at a very large scale.
Our Activities:
1) Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti Function:
Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti is being celebrated
from past 60 years at a very large scale.
2) Holi Milan: Every year on the occasion
of Holi the Holi Milan is being organised by the
society, where all the Agarwals of the city
gathered and enjoy the cultural progammes &
refreshments.
3) Utensil Store (Bartan Bhandar):
Utensils are available with the society for
Marriages & other Social Functions.
4) Disaster Fund: In 2005 society has
created a Disaster Fund with the aim to provide
financial support to the poor class of the
society for Girl marriage or other incidental
disaster.
